Our Festival Venues
Fort Langley National Historic Site
Fort Langley National Historic Site serves as the primary festival venue and many of the Fort Langley International Ukulele Festival workshops will be held in reconstructed historic building on the site. The site also has expansive outdoor space to serve at the primary outdoor stage. Details to follow.
This national historic site has connections to early Hawaiian travellers and settlers in this region and for the important roles the site played in the history of British Columbia.
Built in 1827, Fort Langley was a Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post. Located on the banks of the Fraser River, it was once part of a trade route for the British Empire at the centre of a large population of Indigenous people. Fort Langley drew Indigenous people who traded furs and fish for blankets and other goods. After several years, they diversified the business to include salmon, which was salted and shipped to Hawaii, and cranberries, which were processed and shipped California.
